June 7, 2011In the only U.S. date of his special DJ tour, vocalist Jyrki 69 of Finnish gothic metallers THE 69 EYES will appear on Saturday, July 9 in New Orleans, Louisiana at 1135
Decatur a venue long home to the city's raucous gothic, industrial, metal, and vampire scenes.
Jyrki 69 returns to New Orleans after an absence of nearly two years, when his band last played at the Howlin' Wolf in October 2009 and partied afterward at 1135. He says, "Vampires, voodoo and Elvis' King Creole New Orleans is the home of all dreams for THE 69 EYES! There's no better way to return to the city of my dreams then party 'til the dawn as a DJ at Fangtasia!"
Seraphemera Books comic writer Kurt Amacker (Dead Souls, Immortal: 60) is organizing the event. He states, "Fangtasia is going to be a dance night of bloodsucking beats and vampiric rock 'n' roll that people will be talking about for years. Nobody parties like the Helsinki Vampires. I was there last time, and I'm surprised we all survived. We can't wait to have Jyrki back in New Orleans."
Joining Jyrki will be a cast of DJs culled from the top goth and industrial club nights in New Orleans and nearby Baton Rouge. From New Orleans, Attrition's DJ Sneauxball will spin the best in dark dance and rock alongside DJ Lucifera and DJ Stitch keyboardist of notorious horror industrial band SUICIDE ASSYST. From Baton Rouge's the Chamber, industrial artist Torrent Vaccine will spin alongside DJ Flyhaed, rounding out the evening's entertainment.
Throughout the night, attendees will have the opportunity to have vampire fangs made on premises by Dark Awakenings New Orleans' premiere fangsmith. Early arrivals will also be presented with giveaways from Cleopatra Records, The End Records, and Sigh Co. Graphics.
